Temple Hotel, Matlock Bath, Derbyshire

This historic Georgian hotel is set in two acres of Derbyshire hillside, and offers spectacular views over the Derwent Valley. The main A6 is only a short distance below, and follows the river through the "Little Switzerland" scenery of limestone cliffs and steep wooded slopes. The hotel dates back to the 1780's and will have had numerous distinguished people cross its threshold, including Lord Byron, who was so moved by his visit to Matlock Bath that he was inspired to etch a poem on the restaurant window. Queen Victoria visited when still a young princess and signed the same pane.

Centrally located and set back from the main road, the Temple Hotel provides a peaceful environment in which to relax and unwind.
